Kamp Kohut is situated on 100 acres of fields and woods, with one half mile of western facing shore frontage on Thompson Lake, a beautiful spring-fed, crystal-clear, eleven mile long Maine lake.  Kamp is only 45 minutes away from both Portland, ME and the White Mountains.

There are a variety of sleeping accommodations available at Kamp. What is important to know is that guests will never sleep in a cabin that doesn’t have bathrooms, showers, and electricity.

• Most guests sleep in one of the 18 main cabins that are in the center of Kamp. Each of these 18 cabins offer cot-sized beds and can comfortably sleep 8-12 guests.
• There are also 4 private accommodations with queen/double beds and showers. Typically, couples will reserve these private cabins for themselves and other key members of the wedding parties.
• There’s also a 4 bedroom/2 bathroom home with large deck adjacent to Kamp Kohut (literally a 2 minute walk!) that is available for guests to rent. Some past weddings have even used this home as the bridal suite.

Yes! We never want to limit our guests with who they can choose for their caterers. It’s what makes every wedding at Kamp Kohut unique and personal to each wedding couple. By providing this flexibility on caterers, wedding couples are able to choose whomever fits their own budgets.

We may be biased, but we think Kamp is the perfect location for a wedding weekend vs a “traditional” venue! Here are just a few reasons why:

• Kamp is located in a picturesque, natural setting with a crystal clear lake, towering pines, and lush open spaces, providing a serene and beautiful backdrop for a wedding.
• All-In-One Venue: Kamp has the advantage of offering both ceremony and reception spaces in one location. This convenience, paired with a multitude of on-site lodging for guests, eliminates the need for transportation between venues and provides a seamless experience.
• Unlike traditional venues where events are often limited to a few hours, a Kamp wedding offers the opportunity for a full weekend experience. Couples can host activities like canoeing, bonfires, and group games, making the wedding more than just a single event.
• While Kamp weddings can still be elaborate, many are more cost-effective than traditional wedding venues.
• Couples get exclusive use of Kamp throughout their weekend, allowing them and their guests to enjoy the space without interruptions from other events. This level of privacy and intimacy is often a significant draw for our couples – it’s like having a private summer camp just for you and your friends & family!
• A Kamp setting allows couples to be more creative with décor, themes, and activities. Couples plan a wedding that is truly personalized, from rustic DIY decorations to unique camp-style activities for guests. We absolutely love seeing how unique every wedding at Kamp is!
• Kamp is great for accommodating families, especially those with children – after all, we are a children’s summer camp!. The open space and activities available can keep younger guests entertained, creating a fun environment for all ages.

Yes! There’ll be 3-4 staff members on site to help you and your guests have the best time as possible. Think of these staff as your “Kamp experts.” They’ll be happy to assist moving tables, running the bonfires, check guests in, etc.

• Apart from using Kamp’s commercial appliances, you are more than welcome to prepare food on-site. Many weddings will have a Friday night BBQ with guests using Kamp’s charcoal grill, as well as bring their own gas grills. We also have large warmers that can be used to warm up any pre-prepared food.
• To cut down on cost, guests will often bring continental-style breakfast items (bagels, muffins, yogurt, fruit, etc) and sandwiches to serve for those non-reception meals.
• Reach out to ask more about how couples in the past have handled food! Instead of limiting guests to use our own chef, we try to make the process as flexible as possible, thereby potentially minimizing the costs and making the whole weekend more personal to your own taste.

Yes! Kamp has

• ~Forty 3x4ft tables that you are more than welcome to use (most couple do!).
• Three 9ft farmhouse-style tables (these tables are great for a dessert table, gift table, or head table!)
• Benches and chairs that can be used for the reception
• Long benches that can be used for the ceremony (most couples use our benches instead of renting chairs!)

There are no noise restrictions at Kamp, however, we do ask that guests are respectful after 11pm. Many couples will choose to have music playing down by the campfire or have an “after party” in our main reception hall. That’s completely ok!

• We can comfortably accommodate ~200 overnight guests. Most weddings end up having ~80-100 overnight guests with the rest of their guests choosing to stay at a hotel, airbnb, or commute from home.

Yes! What’s a summer camp wedding without s’mores down by our lakeside campfire?! We’ll even provide the wood and make the fire for you!

By not limiting couples to use an in-house chef or select caterers, couples that choose Kamp can prioritize where they want to spend money: whether it’s on food, lighting, photographers, videographers, a 11-piece band, or anything else, that’s up to you! We’ve seen wonderfully successful weddings that cost a total of $15,000-20,000 all in to weddings that spent north of $150,000.
