A wedding at Kamp Kohut isn’t your typical wedding, it’s a weekend adventure with all your favorite people. From cozy cabins to campfires under the stars, it’s the perfect mix of romance, nostalgia, and fun.
Here are answers to some of the most common questions couples ask about hosting their big day with us:
Kamp Kohut is tucked away on the beautiful shores of Thompson Lake in Oxford, Maine, 45 minutes from Portland and a little over two hours from Boston. It’s the perfect blend of “easy to get to” and “feels like a world away.”
You are provided multiple types of sleeping options for you and your guests: from 18 cozy and classic camp cabins that can comfortably sleep 8-12 guests each to a private 4-bedroom home! All accommodations have electricity and bathrooms & showers. Linen included for everyone.
Of course! We don’t want to limit your menu! You’re free to bring in your favorite caterer (or let us suggest some local pros who know the camp well). Whether you dream of a lobster bake, a food truck, or a plated dinner, the choice is yours.
Kamp weddings aren’t just a day, they’re a whole experience! Instead of quick hello-goodbyes, you get an entire weekend with your favorite people. Picture s’mores by the fire, kayaking on the lake, pickup basketball games, and dancing under the stars… all wrapped around your big “I do.” It’s fun, unique, and totally unforgettable for you and everyone in attendance!
Yes! Think of us as your behind-the-scenes counselors, helping ensure your weekend at Kamp is as magical as ever.
Yes & No. We restrict use of our kitchen equipment to licensed caterers. However, you are allowed to warm up pre-made meals or make items that don’t require use of the equipment.
You also will have access to our large walk-in fridge and freezer throughout the weekend.
Sure do! We’ve got plenty of tables (roughly forty 3x4ft tables + three ~9ft farmhouse tables), chairs, and benches. If you want something extra, you’re welcome to rent additional pieces.
While there isn’t a noice ordinance in Oxford, we want to remain respectful of our neighbors on Thompson Lake. We ask that after midnight, amplified music remains indoors and that guests are respectful of how easily sound travels on a calm lake. Don’t worry, though, campfires, can certainly go late into the night!
We can comfortable accommodate up to 225 guests for your ceremony and reception and up to 175 overnight guests. Want more people? Let’s chat!
Of course! What’s a wedding at a summer camp without a campfire? We’ll set you up at one of our main fire pit right next to the lake so you and your guests can roast marshmallows, swap stories, and soak in that magical glow as the sun sets over Thompson Lake.
Absolutely! That’s one of the best parts of Kamp for the entire weekend! Many couples build in time for swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding, canoeing, basketball, tennis, soccer, kickball, field games or just lounging by the lake. It’s like summer camp for you and your guests!
Nope—it’s all yours! The camp is exclusively yours for the weekend, so you and your guests can make yourselves at home.
No worries! Being a summer camp, we’ve got great indoor spaces like our theatre, rec room, and dining hall that can easily transform into ceremony or reception sites. Rain or shine, the party goes on!
Here’s the status of our following extended weekends (Thursday – Sunday or Friday – Monday) in Summer 2026:
Summer 2027 Season:
We just opened our 2027 season. Here are the available dates for weekend weddings.
**Starting in mid-September and going until the middle of October, we will be renting Kamp for single day rentals (9am – 12am). Throughout the day, guests can still enjoy all the activities offered with the afternoon & evening devoted to your ceremony and reception. Couples would also have access to Kamp the day before and time day after to help with set up / break down.
If you’re dreaming of a wedding that feels more like a weekend getaway than a single night, Kamp Kohut might be the perfect fit. Picture yourself saying “I do” by the lake, dancing the night away with your favorite people, then waking up to coffee by the water the next morning. It’s relaxed, it’s joyful, and it’s all yours.
Let’s make some camp magic together – your adventure starts here!
